Yesterday afternoon and evening I was joined by 45 clients for the Broadway Showcase in New York City. Stars and cast members from 17 Broadway shows performed for 2 hours. Classics such as Phantom, Les Miserables, Chicago, and Cabaret still mesmerized the audience. “Matilda,”A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder”, Honeymoon in Vegas”, “Jersey Boys”, and “Beautiful” were some of the other great shows. Standby for the One If By Land specials to Broadway and off Broadway beginning with the world premiere of “Holiday Inn” (not produced since the 1942 film).

White House Visitor’s Center
After two years of only taking outside pictures from the gates of the White House, the White House Visitor Center reopened on Sept. 13. The $12.5 million renovation created a more in-depth look at the White House and the many presidents and first ladies who lived there.
“For those who don’t have the opportunity to visit the White House, it still gives you a rich, deeply meaningful interactive education on what the White House is like as a home to the first family, as office to the president and as ceremonial stage for the president and official functions of the government,” said Stewart McLaurin, president of the White House Historical Association.
For an introduction, a 14-minute film, “The White House: Reflections from Within” sheds light on everyday life in the White House by using voices of past presidents and first ladies, including President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Touchscreen tours, a new souvenir shop and more than 90 artifacts fill the 16,000-square-foot remodeled space.
Many of the artifacts appear to the public for the first time. Groups can now see the desk where President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his iconic fireside chats, as well as the telegraph key the War Department used to communicate with Gen. Ulysses Grant during the Civil War.
Admission is free and hours run from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily (except certain holidays).

In 2015 Locust Grove will mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War with a special exhibit throughout the mansion’s 25 rooms. The exhibit includes rare artifacts and original letters and diaries chronicling the Young family’s support of the war effort.
Learn how the Young family supported the war effort, conserved food and fuel, and donated their time and money to refugee organizations.
Locust Grove is conveniently located in Poughkeepsie, NY, just a short drive from the landmark home of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Vanderbilt Mansion, and the Culinary Institute of America.

The Boomer List
The exhibit you will only see at the Newseum features 19 large-format portraits of influential baby boomers — one born each year of the baby boom, from 1946 to 1964. In addition to the 19 portraits, a timeline of historic events that defined the baby boom generation will be displayed, featuring newsmagazines from the Newseum collection plus more than 30 iconic artifacts, including newsmagazines from the Newseum collection plus a copy of Dr. Benjamin Spock’s parental advice book, “Baby and Child Care,” an original 1959 Barbie doll, a 1964 G.I. Joe action figure, a transistor radio and a U.S. Army draft card from 1965. The artifacts illustrate the news events and pop culture moments that defined the baby boom generation, from its start in 1946 until 1982, when the last boomers turned 18. Visitors are invited to add their baby boom memories to the timeline. In addition, an interactive kiosk will allow visitors to explore exclusive behind-the-scenes images of Greenfield-Sanders’s photo shoots.
“The Boomer List” also will feature a scent station with memorable aromas familiar to the baby boom generation. A first for the Newseum, the station will include whiffs of baby powder, to represent the 76 million-plus babies born between 1946 and 1964; fresh-cut grass, a reminder of the boomers’ move to the suburbs; and incense, evoking the musky smell of rebellion, flower power and love-ins.

The Bill of Rights Exhibition
As part of a landmark, 100-year agreement between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and The New York Public Library, the National Constitution Center will display one of the 12 surviving copies of the Bill of Rights starting in fall of 2014. The museum of “We the People” will be the first institution in the Pennsylvania to exhibit this historic document to the general public.
